Emblem
The college emblem presents a merge of the two Chinese characters Si (思) and Ting (廷) in a shield shape as a symbol of the college style. The prominence of Si (思) signifies the college’s “Think Culture” which encourages students to think constantly, critically and gratefully. The“田”part in“思”represents an opening window through which students can explore the world, as well as a blooming field for cultivating young talents of society. The simplification and transformation of Ting (廷) by replacing some of its strokes with heart-shaped leaf buds provide the visual effect of melting the“心”part in“思”into the whole design. The peripheral design of combining ribbon with the shield shape symbolizes both rigidity and softness. The two stars at the top of the ribbon represent “principles” and “practice”, respectively in the college motto. The growing leaf buds express the harmonious co-existence of humans and nature. At the bottom of the ribbon lies the college motto in English — Principles and Practice, Dedication to Humanity.
