Skylark Morning Reading Programme is a morning reading platform committed to creating a sound learning atmosphere and helping Musers overcome procrastination.
On 29 March 2019, Wang Tong, the senior majored in Translation with the Certificate Level II in Translation and Interpretation was invited to share the skill of language learning and expression. He pointed out that many students were familiar with professional words but unfamiliar with oral English. Wang Tong gave an example of how to search in Google to distinguish the accurate expression between scrambled egg, fried egg and boiled egg. Later, Wang shared the skill of memorizing vocabulary. It’s reminded that the process of language learning included three steps. Firstly, understand the basic meaning of a word. Second, learn various variations of a word. And finally, master the use of vocabulary in practice. Wang also stressed the technique of language expression, such as imitating logical sentence structure.
On 5 April 2019, Wang Tong was invited to share the skills and methods of writing from three aspects of ‘why’, ‘what’ and ‘how’. First, it’s important that we expressed our thoughts and reflection through writing. Then, Wang underlined that we have to expand our reading so as to enrich the content of writing. Writing a diary in English was also recommended to practice your writing skill. At last, the most important thing that Wang mentioned was to build a logical outline of your composition.
