Muse College Easter Egg Painting Workshop

April 06, 2018 Other Events

In April, Muse College held Easter Egg Painting Workshop. Dr. Charles Kieffer, affiliated lecturer of Muse College, instructed students on egg-painting skills.

In the sun-lit spring, when everything came back to life, Muse College invited Dr. Charles Kieffer to instruct students how to paint Easter eggs.

It takes three steps to make Easter eggs.

Step One: Pick an egg, paint on it with crayons!

Pick an egg and decorate it with crayons. Patterns, figures, words, or sentences.

Charlie: The tricky part is that you could use light color like white or yellow and put it in dark color. That would amaze you!

Step Two: Go to Charlie and color it!

After decorating, students brought the eggs to Charlie. He set the egg on the egg spoon, and lowered it into his specially-made color. He also provided color-matching suggestions. The color of an intact Eater egg can last for a week.

Step Three: Drying Dry it and take a photo!

Wait till the eggs are dry. Students took photos to mark the occasion.

I gained my first experience in Easter egg painting. I got to know the difference between drawing on eggs and painting on paper. Thanks to Dr. Charles Kieffer and Muse College, I also know Easter Festival better. I am looking forward to participating in more activities like this.

——(FAN Yue, freshman of 2017 from HSS)

The world needs magic, wonder and intrigue. It needs Chinese New Year, Halloween, Christmas and Easter. Muse College was the perfect host for this year’s Easter egg painting event. It’s such a joy to watch students create amazing designs on their eggs, and then to watch those artful creations come to life once being transformed in the colored waters. CUHK-SZ truly has some highly talented artists, as well as others, like me, who lack the artistic majesty, yet delight in creating our own special eggs in our own special way. It’s about enjoying art with others, it’s about sharing tradition whilst recognizing the spirit of Easter, and it’s about smiles, laughter and psychological visibility. Thanks to all who came out for our Easter egg coloring day.

——Charlie

As students engaged in Easter-egg painting workshop and beamed with pleasure by holding their well-decorated eggs, they set aside some time to relax under the pressure of midterm exams and got to know different cultures better.

Muse College, always with you.
